House Arrest is an exhibition of sculpture and 2-dimensional works reflecting on notions of domesticity and refuge in the era of quarantine, political turmoil, fires, floods, and

a collapsing ecosystem.

INTRODUCTION

In a “lockdown” the home becomes a sanctuary, a place of detention, and for some, a house of terror. This exhibit looks at the emotional and physical ambiguities of these unusual circumstances. Incorporating wood blocks, used furniture, throw pillows, and old shoes, Cheri Ibes’ sculptures and 2-dimensional works feel trapped and vulnerable, yet strangely resilient.
